Little Nangar produced a best-of-day performance from the 450 metre boxes at Maitland Greyhounds to win the Commercial Hotel Morpeth Spring Cup Final for Cudal trainer Dennis Barnes.

The daughter of Primo Uno and Fancy Liza set up the win with a strong second section against a quality fourth and fifth grade field and claimed the $1800 first prize in 25.09 seconds at the Maitland Showground last Thursday afternoon.
Punters were also on the money, sending her out as the $2 favourite on the back of a strong heat win a week earlier and recent winning form at Wentworth Park.
Woodville trainer Bruce Mackie’s in-form bitch In The Moonlight flashed home to be beaten by only half a length with Knock Wave third for Darren Sultana.
Recent back surgery prevented Barnes from making the 10-hour return trip from Cudal to Maitland for the heats and final in the past two weeks.
His wife Anne stepped in for the trip and was all smiles when she received the Spring Cup form Commercial Hotel Morpeth licensee Ray Webb.
Webb congratulated Anne on a great performance by her charge, saying it was even more special because he had wagered $40 on Little Nangar to win.
Hat-trick of wins for Kedewell
Red Ones brought up yet another hat-trick of wins at Maitland for Elrington trainer Chris Kedwell in the Joy Liebig Stakes over 450m.
The son of El Grand Senor and Mad Manalishi is in spectacular form and clocked 25.20s to beat Carol Hudson’s Viva Opal with Christine Proctor’s Sound Advice third.
Red Ones strung together three wins in late July and early August, finished second at his next start and then strung together another hat-trick of wins on September 7, 14 and 21.
Maitland punters have also warmed to the big fawn dog, sending him to the boxes as favourite for his past two starts and he has delivered on each occasion.

Maitland’s next feature event on the racing calendar is the Maitland Business Houses Challenge.
Heats will be run on October 5 with the final on October 12.
