In a brief mention at Singleton Local Court, Rodney Johnson, 29, of Penrith, had his case adjourned to Newcastle Local Court on December 6. He did not appear in court.
He was remanded in custody.
The court heard Johnson had previously failed to attend court and had had warrants issued for his arrest.
In a document tendered in court, Senior Constable Garth Woodcock said Mr Johnson had “displayed a blatant disregard for the safety of both the general public and police during the commission of offences".
A psychiatric report will also be prepared as a part of the brief due on November 22.
He is charged on a string of offences including stealing a motor vehicle, two counts of not stopping during a police pursuit (known as Skye's Law), two counts of using an offensive weapon to prevent detention, two counts of assaulting police officers, two counts of malicious damage and resisting an officer.
