The Cannons top the table on 67 points with the Jets on 60.5. They are followed by Soldiers Point on 56 and East Maitland (45.5) and East Cessnock (44.5) in fourth and fifth.
It’s a double header week this week, with round six to be completed on Thurday and Friday night.
The Maitland City Hunters were narrow 7-8 losers at home to Kahibah on Tuesday night but they have a game in hand and sit in seventh on 32 points.
The Hunters have a catch-up game against Terrigal, who are sixth with 36 points.
Kurri Kurri made it five wins from five games with a 14-1 win against Beresfield Magpies, while Raymond Terrace had the same winning margin against Nelson Bay.
East Maitland Griffins and East Cessnock Comets jumped a place each on the table with Windale Eagles falling to sixth after their 4.5-11.5 loss to Wallsend. The Griffins defeated Valentine 10-5 and Comets had a 11.5-3.5 win against Charlestown.
