Teams from across the state, including the Hunter, are battling to win the title of NSW’s best primary school girls cricket team.
The 13-team tournament began on Monday and runs through to the finals on Friday.
The Hunter team, which features Emily Latter from Bolwarra Public School and Samantha Tobin from Thornton Public School, has one win and three losses from their three games to date.
Captain Eloise Steele said they started nervously but as they got to know each other better their confidence and game improved.
“We were all a bit quiet and a bit nervous in our first game,” Steele said.
“But by the second game we were really comfortable with each other and had our first win.”
Hunter made 7/60 in reply to Sydney East’s 3/103 in their first game.
They dismissed CIS for 65 and made 6/66 to record a four-wicket win in their second game.
After Hunter had a bye on Tuesday morning, the powerful Sydney North restricted them to 9/47 at Lorn Park in the afternoon to record a 10-wicket win.
The Hunter host Riverina and North West in their two games at Lorn Park tomorrow. The games start at 9am and 1pm.
