Eight winning schools from each state went head-to-head in a series of challenging STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) activities in the final rounds of the competition between more than 700 schools and 100 event days held around the country over the past year.
During the event, Years 9 and 10 students performed a wide array of actives, including designing and constructing catapults to engineering load carrying model bridges.
“The standard of competition at the national finals has always been high, but this year in particular I was impressed by the enthusiasm and innovative solutions demonstrated by the competing schools,” said program director Dr Terry Burns.
