Maitland smashed the Newcastle bowling attack to finish on 6/325 and their bowlers led by leg-spinner Will Stoneman with 4-17 had their turn dismissing the visitors for just 76.

The win cements Maitland at top of the Andrew Blamey Cup table joined by Penrith as the only unbeaten teams after two rounds.

It’s Maitland’s first season in the IDCA competition which features the cream of Sydney’s young cricket talent along with Newcastle and Illawarra in a six-round competition.

Jordan opened the innings and was 119 not out at the end of Maitland’s 50 overs. His innings included nine fours and two sixes.

Eastern Suburbs junior Matt Lynch also joined in the runs fest making 77 including 13 fours and a six.

Team captain Isaac Barry, from City United, cleared the boundary three times in his innings of  64. Stoneman made a quick 21. 

Stoneman dominated the bowling figures for the second week in a row and has figures of 9-30 across the two games. Lachlan Heit gave him the best support on Sunday claiming 2-6, his second brace of the comp. 

Barry didn’t bowl himself but still got in the action making two of three run outs.

Maitland’s IDCA under-14s are second on the table after their first win, beating NSW Hurricanes by four wickets with seven balls to spare. 

They restricted the Hurricanes to 9/167, with Nicholas Bourke taking 3-27.

Jordan Wells made 67 to lead Maitland’s run chase. Max Farmer made 30 and Baylee Borrow 28.

The IDCA under-12s discovered just how tough representative cricket can be being dismissed for just 37 by Hornsby Blue.

Maitland’s scorecard could have looked a lot worse without a fine innings of 28 by Jaxon Brooks. Brooks backed it up taking 1-4 from five overs as Hornsby made the target with nine wickets in hand.

Maitland’s second under-16 team were sent into bat by Upper Hunter in their Hunter Macquarie Generation game on Sunday and were restricted to 9/115 in tough conditions.

Ben Crebert led the way with 54, receiving support from Liam Mullard who made 19 and  Ryan Wind and Tallon Gear who both finished on 12. Upper Hunter reached the target in 30.5 overs with seven wickets in hand.

Most of the Maitland team are bottom age players in under-16s and showed the depth of talent in Maitland junior cricket with a big win against Newcastle’s IDCA team in a trial game.

The under-14s had a 43-run win against Upper Hunter after being dismissed for 123 with two balls remaining in their 50 overs. Daniel Harden made 32 and Joseph Hancock 28.

Maitland was terrific in the field bowling Upper Hunter out for 78. James Green (3-6) and James Dollin (3-12) both collected three-wicket hauls.

Harry Carlson joined the elite hat-trick club in taking 4-36 for Maitland under-12s as they dismissed Upper Hunter for 171.

However, Isaac Edwards played a lone-hand with the bat making 70 as Maitland were dismissed for 130.
