The heritage-listed site is these days home to Clarence Town Museum under the town’s progress association that’s also developed plans for a cafe in the near future.
Lyne MP David Gillespie congratulated Clarence Town Progress Association for its innovation upon the approval of a $14,000 federal grant – as part of the $35,000 project.
“The Progress Association has developed an 'Ownership and Operations Strategy' for the site which has a number of proposals including making the site a focal point for community activity and increased visitation to the Museum,” Dr Gillespie said.
These improvements to the Court House site will aim to generate funds for the ongoing maintenance of the Heritage building and playground.
Dr Gillespie said the Federal funds would be made available under the government’s Stronger Communities Programme.
The program supports the Federal Coalition Government’s commitment to deliver social benefits across Australia by funding small capital projects in each of the 150 federal electorates.
The program’s aims to improve community participation and contribute to vibrant and viable communities. Round three of the program will provide $22.5 million in 2017-18; that is $150,000 to each electorate.
