Diversi, a tough lock or second-rower in his playing days, died in Gosford Hospital on Monday.
Diversi racked up 130 games at North Sydney (1952-1955) and Manly-Warringah (1958-1962), before finishing off his career with two seasons at Kurri Kurri.
He played two tests for Australia from 1954-1955 and played for New South Wales from 1952-1956.
Diversi was also the uncle of legendary Australian, NSW and Parramatta player Ray Price.
In a statement, NRL CEO Todd Greenberg paid tribute to the tough forward, saying, "Peter loved the game and from all reports, was a feared defender throughout the 50s and into the 60s”.
