Police are warning people after a 12-year-old Rutherford girl was “groomed” for nude pictures via Instagram and Snapchat by a stranger.

The girl reported to Maitland police on Monday that she was contacted by someone who asked her to send them sexually explicit images.
Police said the person also indicated to the girl they wanted a relationship with her.
Police believe the offender may be from Poland.
In response to the incident, Maitland Police officer in charge Chief Inspector Glenn Blain has urged young people to be cautious with who they speak to via social media.
