Maitland River Run 2018 and Maitland Mile entries now open

LOOKING for a bit of fitness motivation?

The Maitland River Run will return again this year, and keen athletes are encouraged to organise a team.

Event organiser Paul Humphreys said the 2018 race featured a couple of exciting changes, including tweaking to the start and finish lines to include the new Riverlink Building.

“That gives us a little bit of extra space so our finishers will be able to finish and literally be able to stand on the river bank,” he said.

“The other really exciting thing about this year's race is the half marathon course.

“It will feature our original course, but also feature Maitland Park which is, since the new paths have gone in, actually one of the best little running spots in Maitland.”

Organisers are also aiming for an increase in entries for the 2018 event on Sunday, June 3.

“We're hoping to crack 1000 runners again this year,” Mr Humphreys said.

“It’s going to be a cool event right in the centre of Maitland; it’s great for spectators too.

“Maitland generally has a massive running community and we're hoping businesses can encourage their staff to get involved.”

There will be race lengths to suit a range of fitness levels – 4 kilometres, 8 kilometres, 12 kilometres, half marathon, and River Maitland Mile.
