Family members released 20 balloons to honour the young man who lost his long battle with cancer last year.
Kallan’s father coaches the Wallaroos under-13s and the boys joined arms and stood in silence in a show of respect for Kallan and support for their coach.
A minute’s silence was marked with all games halted and the large crowd bowing their heads and then watching towards the sky as the black and orange balloons, the colours of Kallan’s beloved Wests Tigers, rose into the clear blue sky.
Kallan’s cousins Monica refereed the under-13s match with Kal’s name written on a wrist band.
