Carrie’s Place CEO Jan McDonald said the domestic violence and homelessness service had gone from having a full storage room in January to now being three-quarters empty.
She said there had been a rise in the number of families seeking help, meaning the service was running very low on children's snack food.

“The pressure on parents who are already disadvantaged by means of suffering domestic violence is increasing,” she said.
“There are people in serious poverty and completely unable to manage.”
Carrie’s Place is calling for donations of muesli bars, mini packets of chips and biscuits and poppers for the children to take to school as well as two minute noodles in cups, pasta sauces or grocery gift cards.
Ms McDonald said a $10 or $20 supermarket gift card could help someone feed themselves and their family in the crucial 48 hours after fleeing violence.
“If someone’s packed up and left home, there’s quite a lot of tensions – how am I going to access money, can I feed my kids.
“This means they know there’s one thing they don’t have to worry about.”
Ms McDonald has requested no donations of large cans of baked beans or spaghetti.
Anyone wishing to make a donation should call Carrie’s Place on 4934 2585 to discuss how to drop off the items.
