In fact research shows that up to one-third of the rubbish in our bins could have been composted, but instead rots in landfill, creating greenhouse gas emissions.
Luckily someone has made composting easier.
The Chef’n EcoCrock Compost Bin is a dual bucket design for the benchtop.
It features a simple white ceramic outer which goes with pretty much everything, a cute green seedling handle, and an inner plastic bucket with handle making it look as good as it works.
The designers of the EcoCrock have thought through kitchen waste, especially the smell.
The vented lid features a charcoal filter to ensure there are no smells emitted from the food when left for a few days.
And the dimensions ensure ample capacity – 3.3 litres.
While the bin is slim enough to fit into narrow spaces and its oval opening caters for those users who prefer to ‘toss’ their waste rather than place it.
The inner bucket has a handy carrying handle to transport the kitchen waste to the garden compost heap or worm farm.
All pieces can be easily washed and the bin comes with two charcoal filters, with spares available in packs of two.
