School students and veterans were among those marching through town on their way to the Maitland Park cenotaph for the main mid-morning service.
The day began with a traditional dawn service at the park.
While there were reports of a downpour elsewhere, the rain did not arrive at Maitland Park until after the dawn service had ended.
Despite wet conditions at the later ceremony, families gathered to remember those who fought.
Maitland RSL Sub-Branch invited their members to march, and descendants were invited to march behind veterans.
