A ute stolen from a Maitland business was used in a police pursuit on Tuesday, which started on the M1 and ended near Pennant Hills Road in Sydney.

About 1pm a white Nissan Navara utility was stolen from the business.
Shortly after 2.30pm the vehicle was involved in a crash with another vehicle on the M1 Pacific Motorway, Tuggerah Lakes. The Navara failed to stop and continued south on the M1.
Police were notified and the vehicle was sighted on the M1 heading south at Mount White. A pursuit was initiated by officers from Brisbane Water Traffic and Highway Patrol and continued as the Navara left the M1 and continued onto the Pacific Highway at Berowra.
The pursuit was terminated at Berowra however Polair continued tracking the vehicle as it re-entered the M1 about 40 meters from Pennant Hills Road where it came to a stop in traffic.
Police, who were waiting in the traffic, got out of their car and approached the Navara and arrested the 27-year-old male driver.
He was taken to Hornsby Police Station before being taken to Hornsby Hospital for assessment.
Once released from hospital officers conveyed the man back to Hornsby Police Station where he was charged with police pursuit, larceny (stolen car keys), take and drive conveyance, negligent driving, not exchange particulars, suspended driver and driving under the influence.
He was refused bail and will appear in Hornsby Local Court on Wednesday.
