During the week police took legal action against a teenage boy in relation to the theft of a packet of cigarettes and an Apple iPhone 7 phone. The items were taken from the front porch of a Victoria Street, East Maitland home in February this year. The youth will be given an official caution under the Young Offenders Act. Police were able to recover the stolen items, minus two cigarettes.

Mid-range drink driving
At 11.30pm Friday police observed a vehicle being driven slowly in an erratic manner on Denton Park Drive, Rutherford. The vehicle was stopped and the 51-year-old female was breath tested. She was allegedly found to be driving with a mid-range level of alcohol in her blood. The woman’s licence was suspended immediately and she will be attending Maitland Court.
Police need assistance
Police are asking for community help to identify the person responsible for the theft of a vehicle from Beresfield on May 15. The Subaru Liberty sedan was stolen from an Allendale Street, Beresfield address during the evening, then found burnt out at 11.15pm on Black Hill Road, Black Hill. Police would like any person with knowledge of the matter to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Damage to vehicle in East Maitland
Police would also like community help to identify the offender who spray-painted a parked vehicle in Porter Avenue, East Maitland on Friday night. The miscreant used a spray can to paint a line along the whole side of a parked car.
