Police are investigating after a man allegedly walked into Bunnings Maitland and stole a Makita tool kit worth $1400 in front of other customers and staff.

The man walked into the store about 4.45pm Saturday before heading into the tools section.
He then grabbed the Makita tool kit from a shelf and proceeded to walk out of the section.
An employee told him he had to pay for the item at the tools desk, but the man allegedly continued to walk away before leaving the store entirely.
He was last seen getting into a red Toyota and driving away from the store.
The man was described as Caucasian, of medium build, and was wearing a dark blue hoodie, light coloured pants and joggers at the time.
