Maitland Junior Rugby Union is breaking new ground with the first all-girls team in their under-7 competition.
Boys and girls have played side by side since the inception of the competition which has now grown to 10 teams in action every Saturday morning at Marcellin Park.
However, this is the first year an all-girls team has been formed, alongside mixed boys and girls teams, and they are a force to be reckoned with.
Maitland’s junior rugby program continues to be the envy of club’s across the Hunter with four teams at under-8s competing against other clubs, three teams in under-9s, three in under-10s and two in under-11s, under-12s and under-13s who have all come up through the Little Blacks Army.
