The Olaves (a division of Girl Guides for women aged 18 to 30) have already collected 1100 bras for this year’s campaign, which will be sent to women in disadvantaged countries.
The project seeks new and second-hand bras of all shapes and sizes, including nursing bras, crop tops, mastectomy bras and prostheses, and swimwear, to be donated to women in countries where bras are seen as a luxury item – often unobtainable and unaffordable.
Bras can be dropped off at:
- Cessnock Guide Hall (Tuesday nights from 5pm to 8pm, during school term)
- Clayton Barr’s office
- 2325, 2327 and Break-Thru Bootcamp (during sessions)
- Cessnock City Library
- Betta Home Living, Kurri Kurri
- Mother Goose Day Nursery, Bolwarra
- Hunter Healthy Spines, East Maitland
- Meryl Swanson's office
- Kirkwoods Institute of Karate
- Singleton (call Aimee on 0422 591 519 to arrange collection)
- Medowie and Port Stephens (email Rachael on srbass@bigpond.com to arrange collection)
Monetary donations can be dropped off or sent to:
- Cessnock Guide Hall (Tuesday nights from 5pm to 8pm, during school term) or PO Box 814 Cessnock NSW 2325
- Badgeman (127-131 Wollombi Road, Cessnock)
After June 14, bras can be dropped off at Kirkwood’s Institute of Karate, Clayton Barr’s office and the Cessnock Guide Hall year round.
