Detectives believe the same offender committed armed robberies at KFC on April 3 and the United on April 19.
KFC staff were preparing to close the store at 11.52pm when a man walked in and threatened employees with a knife.
A staff member pulled cash out of two tills to give to the man, who then fled the scene.
The offender was last seen running towards the New England Highway.
Then about 9:15pm on April 19, a man – believed to be the same person – walked into the United and threatened the console operator with a machete.
The man was given money before he fled the scene. He was last seen running towards Schanck Drive.
The offender has been described as Caucasian in appearance, 160-170cm tall with dark coloured eyes. He was wearing a black long sleeved ‘NIKE’ hooded jacket, long pants, a black balaclava and a blue face mask.
Port Stephens-Hunter Detectives have released the images in the hope a member of the public may recognise him.
Any information should be passed onto Maitland Police (49340200) or Crime Stoppers (1800333000).
