The new building will feature improved facilities including internal parking for up to seven ambulance vehicles, an education facility and zone management office area, administration and office areas, logistics and storage areas and an internal wash bay.
Fairfax Media reported in April that the NSW Government planned to build a $3.8 million ambulance training, education and dispatch centre that will employ 32 people on Aberglasslyn Road.
NSW Parliamentary Secretary for Regional and Rural Health Leslie Williams said the new station would enable local NSW Ambulance paramedics to better meet the needs of Rutherford and surrounding communities.
“The purpose built station has been designed with input from local paramedics and tailored to the needs of the local community,” Ms Williams said.
The new station will be funded by the NSW Government’s $122 million Rural Ambulance Infrastructure Reconfiguration (RAIR) program.
Construction is scheduled to begin by the end of this year.
