The mother staffy and two five-month-old pups were taken from the Lions Street front yard sometime between 1pm and 1.20pm on Friday.
The owner was mowing the lawn in the rear yard and went out the front to find the pure bred dogs gone and the gate left open.
A poodle that was also in the yard at the time was not taken.
Police are appealing for information about the incident and urge people to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
