Maitland MP Jenny Aitchison is on the move, but she isn’t going far.
The Shadow Minister for the prevention of domestic violence and sexual assault has had to undertake a forced move of her office to a new premises, after disturbed asbestos was discovered in the roof of her Church Street office late last year.
Ms Aitchison and her staff made the move to Maitland Serviced Offices on Ken Tubman Drive a few weeks ago.
It’ll be their temporary home for the next three months while a new, permanent office is scouted.
The Church St location had a long history of housing Maitland MPs, with Robyn Parker, Frank Terenzini and John Price all occupying the building before Ms Aitchison.
The first-term MP said her office was still open for business as they searched for a new home.
She said her first preference was to stay in the Maitland CBD due to its proximity to public transport and central location.
“That’s our first choice,” Ms Aitchsion said of the CBD.
