Aberglasslyn Ants are second on the table after a last-minute kick by Dungog’s Trai Brekelmans to level the scores was waved away by the linesmen to give them an 18-16 victory.
The two teams meet in a local derby in two weeks time at McKeachies Oval, with Easts at home to Awabakal and the Ants taking on Windale at Windale Oval on Saturday.
Woodberry Warriors maintained top spot in B-grade, but were made to work hard for a 21-8 away win against bottom-side Dudley on Saturday.
The Warriors are a game clear of Wallsend Maryland and four points ahead of Mallabula and Kearsley in third and fourth respectively. They host Mallubula on Saturday.
D-grade North Conference continues to be a battle in two with Paterson and Gloucester unbeaten and sharing top spot.
Paterson had a 24-14 win against Stroud last week and are at home to Tea Garden on Saturday. The top two meet the week after with Gloucester hosting the game.
Clarence Town jumped to fourth on the table with a come-from-behind 40-36 win against Tea Gardens.
They moved ahead of Hinton who were beaten 36-18 by Gloucester.
In the southern conference Maitland United climbed to fourth on the table with a 42-22 win against Abermain Hawks at Howe Park.
United ran in eight tries and made it back to back wins after their 42-6 win against Wangi in round six. Their round seven game against Hexham was washed out.
Morpeth had an unhappy trip to Kotara going down 48-0.
In Ladies League Tag A-grade, Aberglasslyn have a top of the table clash against University on Saturday. The unbeaten Ants beat the students 18-16 in round two.
In LLT B-grade, Maitland United lost 24-6 to Swansea. They host West Wallsend on Saturday and will rate themselves a good chance of grabbing their third win of the season.
