One of the highlights of the holiday program is the Beanbag Cinema, with two film screenings and popcorn and Maltesers available to purchase.
First up will be the screening of OddBall on Friday, July 13 at 11am. Then on Friday, July 20 at 11am, cosy into a beanbag and watch Flushed Away.
Tickets for the Beanbag Cinema are $5 per child. Attendees can BYO beanbag as there is only limited numbers at the gaol.
Throughout July there are also a number of dates locked in for guided tours, including the 150 Years Under Lock and Key tour, Ex-Warder tour and the very popular Escapes tour.
Tours run for around 90 minutes and they are a great opportunity to hear incredible stories from when the Gaol housed some of the country’s most notorious criminals.
Maitland Gaol Coordinator Gordon Sauber said there was a really exciting program lined up for the July school holidays that offers kids a real insight into life behind bars.
“The Beanbag Cinema will be a whole lot of fun, but I think the tours are our most popular experience,” he said.
“We’ve also just updated the Self Guided Audio Tour app, which you can download for free from your app or play store now to your own device.
“It’s incredibly easy to use and means that if you are short on time you still have the information available to you when you get home.’
