While the song has been popular with children's educators and entertainers for many years, the PinkFong version – set to dance music – went viral last year, with more than 1.5 billion YouTube views to date.
People all over the world have since taken up the challenge to film themselves dancing to the song.
Cessnock’s community choir, The Undeniably Noisy Project, will join the fun this Wednesday night (August 1) when they film their own version of the Baby Shark video.
Choir founder Emmie Hallett says visitors are warmly welcome to come along to the CWA rooms from 7pm Wednesday and join the group for a fun evening.
“The Baby Shark song is a very catchy, very silly little song with actions – and groups all around the world are making crazy videos of themselves singing or dancing to the song to share on YouTube,” Emmie said.
“We are going to put Cessnock on the Baby Shark map!”

Participants are encouraged to dress in comfortable blue or grey clothing with a touch of seaside fun – such as swimming goggles, a beach towel or a sun hat and zinc.
“We will learn the song and the movements, then record our video on the night. It will go onto YouTube to share with friends and family later in the week,” Emmie said.
The Baby Shark video challenge kicks off an exciting month for the Undeniably Noisy Project, as it approaches its third birthday.
The choir first met on August 26, 2015 for a simple reason – to unite the community through the love of singing.
Emmie said the Baby Shark video challenge encapsulates the choir’s philosophy.
“This is entirely in the spirit of doing something just for the fun of it – and sharing the message that singing in our group is about laughter, friendship and gathering together once a week to share musical adventures,” she said.
The Undeniably Noisy Project meets at the CWA rooms at 161 Vincent Street, Cessnock from 7pm to 8.30pm every Wednesday night. Entry is by donation. Call 0412 835 865 for inquiries.
