The week is a celebration of Australian children's literature and often involves book character parades and talented librarians creating amazing displays.
There were plenty of exciting activities around Maitland for the annual book celebration.
East Maitland Public School staged a fake meteorite landing for the kids to write about, Maitland Public School held a silent disco and hosted guest author Harrison Craig from The VOICE, while Lochinvar Public School held a #MyMaitland art exhibition in the school hall.
The teachers at Kurri Kurri Public School also went to a huge effort for their Book Week parade, dressing up in the theme of Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
