In the hype of the sporting enthusiasm, no one wants to get stuck driving towards a closed road.
Here is your guide to the trial game, including travel, parking and program.
How to get there:
By train
High Street train station is an 11 minute walk from No.1 Sportsground.
Maitland City Council recommend catching a train to the game as the easiest way to get to the event.
Most Hunter line services will stop at High Street Station on game day.
For the latest timetables, visit Transport NSW.
By taxi
Due to high activity attending the event, parking will be at a premium. Taxi services will be available throughout the event weekend.
To organise your journey to and from the event, contact Maitland Taxis on 02 4933 7333, 131 008 or visit www.131008.com
By car
There is limited parking on site at No.1 Sportsground.
Maitland City Council recommends local parking sites and walking to the ground.
The official car park will be located at Harold Gregson Reserve at a fee of $5 per car.
See parking options in Central Maitland below.
Drop off zone
There will be a drop off zone located outside of the Maitland Repertory Theatre.
Accessible parking
Accessible parking will be available for permit holders in the PCYC car park off James Street.
This will be accessible after presenting a permit to the traffic controller based at the intersection of High Street and James Street.
When allocation is exhausted, overflow accessible spaces will be available in the official parking area at Harold Gregson Reserve.
Tickets and bookings
All Grandstand tickets are sold out, but that doesn’t rule out your chance to see the game.
General entry is $10 for for those 13 and older, $5 for those 12 and younger, and free for children 5 and younger.
Grandstand entry is organised as allocated seated tickets.
Meanwhile general admission tickets provide access to the sports ground and allow holders to sit anywhere on the grassed area.
There is a reserved space available for wheelchair users in the grandstand.
Those requiring a separate seat for a carer can contact Maitland Visitor Information on 4931 2800.
Temporary road closures - Central Maitland (No.1 Sportsground)
There will be several temporary road closures due to the A-League football trial match at No.1 Sportsground, James Street Maitland.
To maintain traffic flow on local streets, temporary road closures and parking restrictions are proposed for key streets including James Street from High Street to Carrington Street; Odd Street from Hunter Street to Raglan Street; and Raglan Street from Odd Street to Carrington Street.
Temporary zones to be installed as follows.
Taxi Zone on High Street, west side, from Devonshire Street around 30m north to the marked pedestrian crossing; Bus Zone on High Street, west side from the above marked pedestrian crossing north to the frontage of 281 High Street, being Maitland Town Hall, incorporating the existing bus zone and the “School Days” timed bus zone; and No Parking and Event Drop-off/Pick-up Zone on High Street, east side, between Sun Street and James Street.
Council will also install Temporary No Parking zones on some surrounding streets.
Access will be maintained for residents within the temporary road closure areas.
