The reunion was organised by the Maitland Girls’ High School Old Girls’ Union with many former students in attendance.
Current Maitland Grossmann High School captains Robert Weatherall and Grace Ahrens also went along for the lunch.
Maitland Girls High was one of only two high schools outside the Sydney area for many years – the other being Maitland High, A School for Boys.
In 1987 Maitland Girls' High School and Maitland High, A School for Boys, were made co-educational high schools by the then NSW Minister for Education, Rodney Cavalier.
Meanwhile, a Maitland Girls High School 40 year reunion has also been organised for September 22 at the Valley Restaurant at Easts Golf and Leisure Club in East Maitland.
The reunion is for women who were in year 10 in 1976.
Cost is $35.00, for details email mghs40years@gmail.com.
