The brewery, with eight craft ales on tap, has thrown its doors open to the public but will hold an official launch later this month.
Operations Manager and Telarah lad Lucas Cattell, has joined Craig Upton (brewer) and Cameron McDonald (bar manager) to launch the new venture, which on completion, will be able to produce 2000 litres a day.
It will also ultimately have a storage capacity of 22,000 litres for an around the clock operation.
Lucas and the team believe the industrial estate is the perfect location for a brewery, being centrally located between Newcastle and Maitland, as well as close to the freeway.
The brewery’s large capacity is designed to ensure sufficient production can be undertaken to supply bars, bottle shops and events locally and nationally, with handcrafted locally produced beers.
It will also allow them to keep the on-site bar stocked for tastings, growler refills, take away sales, events and functions.
“We’re looking to work with bars and bottle shops, locally and nationally who would like to stock our beers.
“The cellar door will also be a great place to stop in for afternoon beers, a pizza, to socialise after work, or a somewhere new to visit on the weekend,” Lucas said.
“We will welcome coach and tour operators seeking somewhere different.”
Lucas said the aim is to cater for the large work base employed across Thornton and Beresfield.
He said doors to the bar and cellar door are already open and there will be an official launch on September 28 with music, food and of course beer.
Wine, cider and spirits are also available.
“There won’t be any ribbon cutting, it will be a case of come in and try what we have on offer,” Lucas said.
“We currently brew on our pilot system and are eagerly awaiting the arrival of our new custom-built brewery which is expected to arrive later in October. We are excited about what is to come.”
Lucas is opening a distillery next door with plans to work with Maltnhops Brewhaus, with his spirits behind the bar.
Maltnhops will supply some local hotels, bars and a couple of venues in the Upper Hunter.
“We’re only producing for the cellar door at the moment with everything made on site,’ he said.
“We have a small quantity of take away products also available.
“We’re pushing a German influence with pilsners and lagers using traditional techniques,” Lucas said.
The brewhaus opens from midday seven days.
