The two teams were drawn on either side of the draw, but unfortunately both lost their semi-finals at at Ettalong Memborial Bowls Club.
Appleby and Dawson were defeated 21-15 by Paul Jopson and Ric Southam, from Park Beach.
Stokes and Baus went down 22-14 to Warilla pair Matt Miles and Jesse Noronha.

Kurri Kurri's Aaron Appleby and Nathan Dawson are Raymond Terrace's Jason Stokes and Matthew Baus are on track for a grand final showdown at the NSW State Bowls Championships today.
Appleby and Dawson play Paul Jopson and Ric Southam, from Park Beach, and Stokes and Baus face Matt Miles and Jesse Noronha, from Warilla in this morning’s semi-finals at Ettalong Memborial Bowls Club.
The winners of both games move into this afternoon’s grand final.
The dominant pairing in Hunter bowls, Appleby and Dawson defeated Wyong 21-19 in the round of 16 and Wallacia 25-14 in the quarter-final.
Stokes and Baus beat Merrylands 21-18 in the quarter-final after defeating Blackhead 27-14 in the round of 16.
Club Maitland City’s Ronald Solomons and John Lill bowed out in the quarter finals of the senior pairs going down to Narooma in the quarter-final after beating Gladesville.
Kurri Kurri’s Jacob McMurray will be in action on Friday when he takes part in the round of 16 in the prestigious singles championship.
He will meet Bruce Lack of Temora, while Raymond Terrace’s Eric Ryan takes on Stuart McLeod of Mona Vale. The quarter-finals are on Friday afternoon and semi-finals and final on Saturday.
In the Senior Singles Beresfield’s Frank Leslie Beresfield takes on Rex Johnston (Tuncurry Beach) and Maitland City’s David Button meets Brandon Conway (Double Bay) on Friday.
In State President Reserve Pairs Telarah’s Robert Scholes and George Wahle lost in the round of 16.
It’s been a huge week for Appleby and Dawson who were also part of Kurri Kurri’s triples and fours campaigns. They were joined by Andrew Rees and Michael Smith in the fours team which was knocked out in the quarter-finals losing to 22-17 to Westport.
Raymond Terrace’s Ian Lean, Jason Stokes, Lennon Scott and Matthew Baus lost to St Johns Park, the eventual champions, in the round of 16.
Appleby, Dawson and Corey Parker’s triples campaign ended in round 16 when whey were beaten 26-14 by Cabramatta
