Pokolbin eatery Circa 1876 has taken out two major awards at the prestigious The Savour Australia Hostplus Awards for Excellence held in Sydney Monday night.

The eatery was named 2018 NSW Regional Restaurant of the Year and best regional NSW Australian restaurant (formal),
The double win caps off a big three years for the restaurant which took out Best NSW Regional Restaurant (fine dining) twice while also being named Best Restaurant Caterer (weddings) three years running.
“It’s a great honor and very rewarding to play a part in such an iconic and historical property located in an amazing food and wine region,’’ Circa 1876 Executive Chef Trent Barrett said.
“Just walking through the doors each day, I have a feeling of being a part of something very special and meaningful.’’
Trent said the restaurant continues to focus on a paddock-to-plate mentality while using the best seasonal produce.
“I have a true passion for staying in touch with the seasons through paddock to plate and absolutely love our amazing Australian natives that are widely underused.”
Circa 1976 wasn’t the only local venue honoured at the awards, with Il Cacciatore proving that they serve up the best Italian fare in regional NSW.
Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley also took home a duo of gongs, namely Best NSW Regional Function/Convention Centre Caterer and NSW Regional Caterer of the Year, while its Lovedale Bar and Restaurant getting an honourable mention in the Best NSW Regional Beer Cafe/Wine Bar category.
Esca Bimbadgen Restaurant was named best NSW Regional Restaurant In A Winery while Baumé Restaurant at Ben Ean took home the Nest New Restaurant Regional NSW award.
