The Comets beat the minor premiers in the opening game of the season and repeated the result with a 36-33 win in the grand final - the Maitland Blacks team’s only losses for the season.
It was a remarkable win for the Comets, who progressed from the elimination final, and a disappointing loss for Black Mamba after dropping just one game in the regular season.
But in a show of the sporting spirit which prevailed across the day both teams insisted on getting a photo together as a memento of a terrific season.
The A2 grand final was one of several tight contests and upset results.
While Hills Solicitors were favourites in A-grade they had to work overtime to record a 45-41 victory over The George Tavern, who were led by an inspirational performance by player of the final Laura Nolan.
In A3, Flames just held out Red Hot for a 46-44 win and only five goals separated premiers MRBNC Black Ice and Kaos (35-30) in A4.
In B2 Cougars beat Dream Team 45-43, The Walkie Talkies 21 defeated Garnetts 19 in the 12-2 decider and just three goals separated 11-1 premiers RBs and Crazy Comets and 10-1 winners Shooting Stars and Bluebelles.
The most thrilling result was in Inter-4 with Clovers defeating Fanatics 32-31.
