Maitland Country Women’s Association has been busy doing its bit for drought relief, donating money, collecting donations and even knitting lamb jumpers.
The small branch has raised more than $1000 and used its hall as a drop off point for community donations to assist the Drought Angels.
Members have also been knitting lamb jumpers to send to Coonabarabran, to assist farmers in the area.
It’s just one of several activities the CWA has participated in recently.
The group held a morning tea in September for CWA Awareness Week, junior members participated in a cooking and handcraft day and the group also took part in the Hunter River Group International and Cultural day at Maitland City Bowling Club.
Maitland CWA members participated in a humorous version of Neil Sedaka’s song “Calendar Girls”, which resulted in the branch taking home the trophy.
There was also success for Maitland member Danielle at the event who recited a poem.
