When owners of Coalfields Climate Control Brendan and Megan Ward headed to the 2018 Hunter Region Business Excellence Awards evening they were grateful to just be having a “night out without the kids”. 

So, it was a bonus when the husband and wife team walked away with a win in the Trade and Industry category.

“We were very proud and chuffed to have won,” Mr Ward said. “And we were very surprised,” Mrs Ward said. “We didn’t expect to take out a large industry-based award. But we were also very proud of our team.”

Mrs Ward was full of praise for the small, dedicated team at Coalfields, which includes Ethan (leading hand), Jack and Nick (apprentices) and Sarah (administration).

“They exceed expectations every day,” she said. “They are committed, friendly and fun – and our clients just love them. In fact, we get daily feedback on our team.”

The Wards only established Coalfields Climate Control in January 2017, providing service, repairs, maintenance and installation for air conditioning and refrigeration. The team has been built during the last 12 months, making the award win all the more special for such a young business.

Their business ethic is based upon honesty and putting themselves in a client’s shoes.
