There are seven Maitland players in the Central North under-18 team to play at the McDonalds Country Colts tournament at Narrabri from December 17-20.
The players include Kurri Weston new signing Isaac Barry who will captain the side and be joined by Warriors teammate Jack Sylvester.
Shannon Threlfo (Western Suburbs), Jesse Budden and Sean Gibson (Eastern Suburbs), Rex Greaves (Northern Suburbs) and Jacob Page who is playing for Wallsend in Newcastle after being part of Raymond Terrace’s 2017-18 premiership win are also in the team.
Sylvester has also been named in the Under-16 Bradman Cup team along with his Kurri Weston teammate Beau Parnell. City United duo Cameron Wynn and Ben Crebert and Maitland IDCA representative Tom Druery from Singleton.
Eastern Suburbs quartet Charlie Walker, Oscar Walker, Joe Hancock and Tom Porter have all been selected in the Central North Kookaburra Cup (under-14) team to compete at the annual titles to be held in Albury from January 7-10.
Maitland teams begin their junior representative campaigns on Sunday with Maitland hosting Upper Hunter in the opening round of the Hunter Valley Macquarie Generations under-16, under-14 and under-13 competitions.
The under-16s play at Robins Oval, the under-14s are at King Edward Park and under-12s are at Norm Champman Oval.
Maitland has also expanded its commitments in prestigious Inter District Cricket Association competition fielding teams in all age groups from under-12 to under-16. The draw for the competition which features Sydney associations, Newcastle and the Illawarra has not been released yet.
The Maitland and District Junior Cricket Association competition resumes in all age groups on Saturday.
There are four new clubs and an extra 10 teams across the age groups for the 2018-19 season.
The under-16s started last week but only the Division 1 game between City United and Raymond Terrace was able to proceed. This season there are two divisions in under-16s.
Division 1 which features City United; Kurri Weston; Northern Suburbs; Raymond Terrace; Tenambit Morpeth Bulls and Wine Country. starts a two-day game this round on Saturday.
Division 2 featuring Eastern Suburbs Blue and White; Northern Suburbs and Western Suburbs has one-day fixtures.
