A statement of environmental effects, lodged with Hunter Land’s development application, noted the subdivision will be completed in six stages.
“The proposal provides a positive social impact in meeting part of the Lower Hunter regions demand for additional housing in line with the projected population targets set by the Lower Hunter Regional Strategy,” the document said.
“It is considered to be in the public interest and will provide additional housing stock, new infrastructure, community facilities and public recreation areas to benefit the local community.”
The application seeks approve for the subdivision of the land into 163 residential lots and construction of two residues, as well as the clearing of land, site regrading and bulk earthworks.
It also bids for the provision of urban infrastructure including roads, stormwater drainage, water and sewer reticulation, electricity supply and telecommunications.
The French themed St Helena Village will be developed at a later date.
The development application will be on exhibition until November 5.
