Maitland City Boxing Club has eight fighters on the card including title contender Jesse Catt, Willem Clarke and Teale Callagher.
The club’s gym has been a hive of activity in preparation over the past 10 weeks.
Maitland City Boxing coach Barry McDonald said the focus of his fighters had predominantly been on Saturday’s big fight night.
“We’ve been preparing them for the last 10 weeks. A couple have had fights in between but the main focus has been on this event,” McDonald said.
“I think they will acquit themselves very well. They’re dedicated, have all worked very hard and will put on a good show.”
Jesse Catt takes on Gloucester fighter Jack Yates for the Hunter Valley light welterweight title over four rounds and is confident of success.
“I’ve been prepared well, will make my weight and give it my best shot,” Catt said.
Willem Clarke takes on Newcastle boxer Jake Collins-Doherty for the Hunter Valley middle weight title.
He has comfortably made weight and is looking forward to what he believes should be a great fight.
The sole woman on the card from the gym, 18-year-old Teale Callagher meets Sarah Bottrill for the light welterweight title.
Callagher, who took up boxing 18 months ago, said she had never trained harder in preparation for the fight and was really looking for the challenge.
Also fighting on the night from the Maitland City team are Andrew Chenoweth, Blake Stone, Callum Mudd, James Mordue and Jarred Harmes.
Tickets at $25 can be purchased in advance at Club Maitland City or on the night. There are also corporate tables available by calling Barry on 0409 837 493. Doors open at 7pm and the first fight is scheduled for 7.30pm.
