Students were over the moon to host a Grandparents Day assembly for their special visitors.
Teacher Jordan Bousfield said the children were very proud of their older relatives, who no doubt reciprocated the feeling to them.
“It’s a day for children to celebrate their grandparents and the special things they do for them,” she said.
“The students have been raving about it for weeks – they love having people coming in and seeing what they’ve been doing in the classroom.”
The proud moments continued when Maitland Genesis club manager Steve Cook announced the school had won a friendly competition with Tarro and Thornton public schools.
Mr Cook said one of the gym’s missions was to inspire movement in children to help set them up for a healthy life.
Teacher Bryce Medcalf-Pommer said students and staff from the school wore heart rate monitors and recorded activity in an effort to promote an increase in physical exercise.
“It wasn’t about creating more work or more physical activity it was about redirecting what we did and making it more active,” he said.
After watching performances in the assembly, grandparents joined children in their classrooms for activities and visited the book fair.
