But there’s much more to the Woodville most of us know and that’s and abundance of stunning gardens.
This weekend those gardens will be showcased in Maitland Black and White Committee’s fundraiser the Woodville Wander.
Five gardens on Paterson Road, Woodville will throw their gates open to help raise funds for Vision Australia.
The gardens will open on Saturday and Sunday November 17 and 18 from 10am to 4pm. Participating properties are Albion Farm, Gracemere, Zetta Park, Tressingfield and Stradbroke.
The committee is celebrating 50 years of fundraising for their patron body, Vision Australia, formerly the Royal Blind Society of NSW. Over $1million has been raised since the committee’s inception – last year alone $55,000 was raised for Vision Australia.
Tickets can be purchased a through Maitland Visitor Information Centre, Heritage Gardens Nursery, Bolwarra Cafe, Sharpe’s Nursery, Poppy’s Nursery and at the gardens on the day.
A shuttle bus service will depart Maitland Railway Station daily at 9.45am however tickets must be pre-purchased through the visitor centre for this service.
