Event director Dave Robinson said enticing the most successful supercross/motocross rider to emerge from Australia was a huge coup for the popular event which is already expected to draw a crowd of 10,000 on Sunday.
“We were over the moon when Chris Watson [Chris Watson Motorcycles] was able to get a commitment from Chad to race on Sunday,” he said.
“This is huge news not just for the Postie Bike Grand Prix but also for fans of world class racing.”
Mr Robinson added that Chad, who moved to the US in 2002, will be riding with his cousin, former Australian Motocross champion Craig Anderson.

While Reed comes to the grand prix with such formidable accomplishments as four-time Australian Supercross Champion and two-time AMA Supercross Champion, Mr Robinson said that the lauded rider would not be gifted a spot in the main race.
“Well, he’s still got to qualify,” Mr Robinson said. “There are a lot of competitive riders who will also be looking for a win.”
Along with the addition of Reed, this year’s grand prix will be an auspicious one as it will be hosting the first-ever dedicated all-female street race in Australia.
