The artists are members of the inclusive art group Inside Out, hosted by Maitland Regional Art Gallery.
The exhibition – Waiting for Rain – will take place at Brough House, with the artists presenting various forms of artwork from paintings to sculptures.
It will be opened by CWA president Barbara Heckman on Friday and the public is welcome.
As well as displaying their work, the Inside Out artists are committed to fundraising for the Country Women’s Association. A percentage of the price of artworks sold will be donated to CWA to assist them in supporting regional and rural families.
“We are all affected by the drought in some way,” artist Sue Cone said.
“We wanted to give our support to rural NSW in this fight against impossible odds.” Ms Cone lives on a rural property and has first hand experience of the drought, struggling to find feed for her animals. “But we wanted to create works that spoke about hope, joy and resilience.”
Sharron Lorraine’s work reflects the notion of water as a building block of life. “They’re about the power of nature,” she said. “The value of resources and the fragility of life.”
Other contributing artists are Billie Mosman, Sharron Lorraine, Billie Mosman, Sinead Darby, Alexandra Rennie, glass artist Karen Carrejo and Helen Fenner.
