Whincup is back to defend his title this weekend, but the sentimental favourite will no doubt be veteran Holden driver Craig Lowndes who will call a halt to his great carer after the race.
Huge crowds of more than 150,000 are expected to hit the streets of Newcastle for the second annual event this year.
But those commuting from Maitland would be happy to know public transport is included in the ticket price, with 120 extra trains, including additional all stop services from Maitland, organised to help make the commute a little easier.

Transport NSW advises those driving to factor in extra travel time and plan to arrive early.
Park & Ride services will operate from McDonald Jones Stadium in Broadmeadow and Stockton ferry wharf.
