Pollard, the English forward, who sent fear through opposition ranks and was part of Maitland’s 1971 and 1973 premierships.
“Keith sent fear through the opposition ranks, but we loved him. You needed to duck your head when you ran near him as he was likely to take your head off,” Great mate and former Pickers hooker Alan McNab said of Pollard.
Pollard, who played professional football with Hull KR and Keighley in Britain, details his career in England and his cherished period playing with the Pickers in the book Red and White Phoenix: The Adventures of a Hessle Road Lad.
Proceeds from the book, which retails for $27, are going to charity and anyone interested in ordering a copy can contact Carole Wolinski on 0410 627 084 asap.
