Martial arts fans are in for a showcase day of skills as more than 120 students undertake grading assessments at the Maitland Federation Centre on Saturday.

Students from yellow belts through to fifth dan black belts will go through their paces showcasing the skills needed to attain their ranks.
Peter Kirkwood, from Kirkwoods Institute of Karate, said it was an important day for the all the participants who had been working hard towards earning their belts.
Kirkwood said the skills on display in the black-belt gradings from first to fourth dan.
He said interstate and state instructors would be on hand to grade all black belts divisions.
“The exercises the students go through in the senior belts will involve incredible skills and use of weapons,” he said.
“It really is something to see and fans are most welcome to come along.”
Grading starts at 9.30am and run through the day with doors opening at 8.30am at the Maitland Federation Centre. Entry is $5.
