Fourth generation Michael Kuszelyk said the city’s Polish community were celebrating the anniversary with an exhibition.
“As part of the exhibit, we will have walking through Polish history with stamps and bits of fabric,” he said.
“There will be hand wooden craft, and other pieces of history that link Maitland and Poland. We want people from the community to come along.”
The centrepiece of the exhibit will be the handmade Christmas crib, which featured in the 1988 World Expo. It will be on display for the first time in 30 years.
There will also be Polish arts and crafts, and traditional Polish cake tasting – available for a gold coin donation.
The free exhibition will run from 10am to 4pm at the Maitland Polish Hall on Saturday, December 8.
