Maitland Council place activation officer David Graeme said the Christmas movie event would be a family-friendly night out.
“‘Christmas at the Common is different to other movie nights because we are using smaller scale screens and projectors. Bring a picnic rug, chair and something warm, just in case,” he said.
“It’s an outdoor movie experience with a difference. We are expecting between 500 and 600 people here on Friday.”
The free event will feature three mini cinemas showing three classic Christmas movies including Home Alone, Muppets Christmas Carol and National Lampoons Christmas Vacation.
In addition to the movies, there will be various performers, food trucks and even Santa Claus has plans to stop by.
It’s BYO seating and snacks, with the fun set to kick off at 7pm on Friday, December 14.
