Police said a black motorcycle was spotted at several locations around the Hunter before officers caught up with it at the United service station on Newcastle Road on Monday morning.
Police claim a man ran from the scene, prompting a foot pursuit through residential and business premises around the area.
The man was arrested a short time later.
The 23-year-old, who in 2014 was disqualified from driving until 2025, was charged with driving while disqualified, riding an unregistered and uninsured bike, resisting arrest and other traffic infringements.
