Victoria’s Max Fricke leads the Hunter’s reigning Australian champion Rohan Tungate by eight points going to Saturday’s final round of of the Australian Solo Speedway Championship at Kurri Kurri.

Tungate finished second at Albury in round four of the 2019 Australian championships.
Fricke and Tungate scored 14 points in the qualifying heats, however Fricke claimed his third round win defeating the Hunter champion in a thrilling A-final in which they swapped the lead twice.
Former World under-21 Champion Fricke now leads the series on 66 points with Tungate second on 58 points and former world and five-time Australian champion Chris Holder third on 57 points.
Tungate admitted it was going to be tough to pull pack eight points on Fricke but he wouldn’t give up with the series heading to his home track.
“I rode so well tonight but fair play to Max (Fricke) who rode well in the final. It’s a tall order now to pull the points back but I’m still in there fighting,” Tungate said.
“I won’t give up and I know Max will be pumped for the win too so it’s going to be a great battle.
“I will have the home fans with me so I’m hoping to see everyone there giving me support.
“It’s been a great series for me and I’m not down yet. A huge thanks to my sponsors as always for their backing.”
In a thrilling A-final, Fricke gated fasted to take the lead early. Tungate came underneath Fricke on lap two, but Fricke repeated the manoeuvre on lap three.
Chris Holder, who beat his brother Jack in the B-final to qualify for the main event, was third claiming two points to take 12 points from the meeting. Brady Kurtz was fourth adding one point to his 11 from the heats.
Hunter rider and 2017 Australian champion Sam Masters collect 10 points from the heat and made the B-final.
