The Whiddon Group donated $100,000 to Rural Aid’s Buy a Bale campaign to assist communities impacted by drought in regional NSW.
Along with Millfield, another nine trucks were also headed for Bathurst, Narrabri, Walgett, Wee Waa and Wollondilly.
Hay on the Millfield-bound truck had been transported from Esperance in Western Australia.
Whiddon CEO Chris Mamarelis said that many of the group’s aged care facilities were in regional areas, so they wanted to give back to those in need.
“It has been devastating to see the impact of the drought on these, and other communities,” Mr Mamarelis said.
“Whiddon has many employees and residents whose families still reside on rural properties and are dependent on working the land.
“As such, it is vitally important that we do what we can as an organisation, to support the drought relief effort.
“We are very pleased to provide this assistance on behalf of our residents, clients, employees and families.”
